MS ECE Admission

MS Electrical and
Computer Engineering

Admission Requirements

  • GT-Shenzhen accepts applications on a rolling basis, first-come, first-served. Admission decisions are made only after all application materials (online application, recommendation letters, IELTS or TOEFL scores, etc.) have been received by Georgia Tech.
  • Students wishing to participate in the Georgia Tech (GT)-Shenzhen MS degree program in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) must apply online to GT and meet the current GT ECE admission requirements.
  • Georgia Tech requires proof of English proficiency for applicants whose native language is not English. Please do not self-report scores if your university is not required or may be exempt (see apply online to GT and Graduate Education for exemptions). Doing so will cause system errors and delays in processing. We find leaving the self-reported section blank prevents delays.

  • If you expect an English proficiency waiver from a co-op or dual-degree program, you must provide information from both schools separately and upload transcripts individually.
  • If an applicant holds a degree at the time of their application (and were admitted), they must submit their final documents one month before they enroll, or their application will be cancelled/moved to another term. GE will only allow students to submit final documents during their first semester IF they did not complete the degree at the time of their application.

  • ETS must send the complete set of scores from each testing session, as MyBest Scores are not accepted. The Home Edition is acceptable.
  • Exam results older than two years old are invalid. Exams may be taken multiple times, with only the highest score considered.
(minimum score is 577 paper-based or 90 internet-based (on a single test), with minimum section scores of 19.)
IELTS
7

  • At the time of testing, search “Georgia Institute of Technology” and “Graduate” to request Georgia Tech as a recipient.
  • If you did not select Georgia Institute of Technology as a recipient at the time of testing, see www.ielts.org and submit your scores.
(minimum section scores of: 6.5 reading, 6.5 listening, 5.5 writing, and 6.5 speaking)
GRE
155

1201-1204
Although the GRE is not required in ECE, an official GRE score report sent from the ETS is recommended for applicants from lesser known universities.
(Quantitative only)

Applicants may use multiple test scores if: on a single test they score the overall score of 7 for IELTS Academic or 90 for TOEFL, they score below the minimum score on one of the individual sections (Reading, Speaking, Writing, Listening), and they have taken the test again and achieved the minimum score requirement for that section.

If you take the GRE multiple times, Georgia Tech will use the highest section scores for admission decisions. For this reason, we highly recommend that you provide information on all of your GRE test scores and not just the GRE test with the highest total score. The ETS home version is acceptable.
